Scope and Content

Sketches of characters and characters in settings in graphite and watercolour, inscribed in graphite with ms notes on colours and details on six sheets of paper, the back of a part of a ms letter from A.Taplin, (Hockley's stepsister) presumably to Edgar Hockley, the back of the front of an envelope from the Bank of England addressed in typeface to Edgar Hockley Esq., at 14 Prospect Road, Markhouse Road, Walthamstow; the backs of the fronts of four envelopes addressed to Edgar Hockley, three at 14 Propect Road, and one c/o George Hockley Esq., (step brother) Highfields, Duston, Nr. Northampton, and the back of one butcher's bill headed: 'P.J. Howe, Family Butcher, 73 Markhouse Road, Walthamstow' dated 2 Apr 1910. One small sheet is inscribed in graphite with the name of the character 'Le Beau' (one of Duke Frederick's courtiers in an identified production of As You Like It and ms notes of colours and details of the costume.
