Scope and Content

Sketches of characters, settings and characters in settings in graphite and watercolour, inscribed in graphite and ink with ms notes on colours and details, on 34 pieces of paper and the reverse of two envelopes. One envelope is from the Bank of England addressed in typeface to Edgar Hockley at 14 Prospect Road, Markham Road, Walthamstow, and one is addressed to him in ms at the same address. Nine of the watercolours on cartridge paper mounted on paper appear to be Hockley's 'finished' sketches, the pinholes in the top two corners of some indicating that they had been pinned up.
