Scope and Content

Sketches of characters and characters in settings in graphite and watercolours on 18 sheets of paper and the back of the front of an envelope from the Bank of England addressed to Edgar Hockley Esq., 14 Prospect Road, Markham Road, Walthamstow. Inscribed in graphite and ink with ms notes on colours and details. Two of the sheets are graphite notes on Nero's Palace and Nero's throne; six are images on tracing paper mounted onto sheets paper, and the one watercolour on cartridge paper mounted on a sheet of paper, inscribed in ink and graphite with notes on colours and details, seem to be one of Hockley's 'finished' sketches, the pin holes in the top corners indicating that they have been pinned up.
