Sketches of characters in graphite and watercolour, inscribed in graphite with ms notes of colours and details, on seven sheets of paper and one on the back of an envelope addressed in ms to Mrs. Hockley, 14 Prospect Road, Markhouse Rd., Walthamstow, postmarked July 1914. Four watercolours on cartridge paper mounted on paper seem to be Hockley’s ‘finished’ sketches with pinholes in the top corners of each, indicating that they had been pinned up.
