George Ripley. [The compound of alchymie.] The compound of Sr George Ripley Chanon of Bridlington. Dedicated to K. Edw. ye 4th. Also contains a number of receipts in Latin, Dutch, French and English, and an account (in English) of experiments made on 20 April and 3 June, 1602. Late 16th century-early 17th century. The compound of alchymie was first published at London in 1591. This text differs considerably from that of the printed version. Inscribed: Phillipps MS 9631. This was one of the manuscripts which Phillipps bought from Thomas Thorpe in 1836 (Phillipps Studies III: 80-86). Bookplate of Joseph Haslewood
