Geber. [Summa perfectionis magisterii.] 15th century. Stamped: Sir T P [Thomas Phillipps] Middle Hill 1336. This is one of a group of manuscripts described in the Phillipps catalogue as 'Ex Bibliotheca Monteil, & Royez, Parisiis.' Amans-Alexis Monteil (1769-1850) was a historian and author of Traité des matériaux manuscrits de divers genres d'histoire; many of his manuscripts were sold in 1835. Royez was a Paris bookseller. Inscribed: John Ferguson Glasgow Tuesday 22 June 1897 The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Day. This is my memorial of it - What could be more appropriate - My first Alchemical investment was the Dantzig "Geber" purchased in May 1859 from Quaritch - this also is from B.Q.!.
