Autograph letter, signed, from John Holmes to Lord [Ashburnham]. British Museum, [London], 2 March 1853.
Unable to accept invitation. Regarding manuscripts of Placides et Timeo, purporting to be translated from Latin to French for Philippe le Bel, but French is more modern. Sir Henry Ellis thanks him for discovery about variant edition of Fahqan. Has other matter to send him. British Museum has purchased Boerius manuscript from Lilly.
Pencil notes in another hand on verso of last leaf.
