    • 1 item 1 f. Paper. 273 x 10.8 cm. Text written in bolorgir, divisions of geometric bands, headings in coloured inks. Seven sheets attached end to end, damaged at the beginning, first membrane backed and pasted over with the 'Ex Libris' bookplate of the owner Haroutune Hazarian (1886-1981).

Scope and Content

An Armenian scroll containing two extracts from Grigor Narekats'i's Book of Lamentation (Soliloquies XII and XLI), a prayer against the devil, and an extract from the Gospel of St Matthew (9:27-34, the healing of the two blind men). Some texts are missing from the beginning. Thirteen large miniatures: portrait of St Gregory the Enlightener, Annunciation, Nativity, Presentation in the Temple, Baptism, Entry into Jerusalem, the washing of the feet, Crucifixion, entombment, Ascension, Transfiguration, Christ again on the cross, portrait of St Matthew.
