Scope and Content

2 different subjects, both with slides. Castle Hill (44 slides in 1 small green box) - tracing it's history including Neolithic, Iron Age, Roman, Medieval, Norman eras, the de Lacy family, beacons, the first public house. Legends (84 slides in 1 large grey tray) includes Blackburn, who talks about the'17th century Crazy Gang. The 14th centuary Elland Feud between the Elands of Elland Hall, the Beaumonts of Crosland Hall, the Lockwoods of Lockwood Hall and the Quarmby's of Quarmby Hall. The story of Ned Lumb, breaking and entering and robbery with violence in the late 17th century. Castle Hill, a shorter version including the legend of tunnels from Castle Hill to various places including Huddersfield parish church. The Woodsome Ghost, reputed to be James Rimington, one time steward of the hall. Robin Hood, looking at the legend and his reputed death at Kirklees Priory.
