The Heads of Halls Committee comprised heads of University-approved halls of residence (i.e. including those not directly run by the University). It received reports from each of the halls and co-ordinated University policy for the halls. Until the late 1950s , most halls were independent of the University. As the University took over the ownership of the majority of the halls from the late 1950s, and with opening of new halls of residence such as Owens Park, coordination of accommodation policy gradually became the responsibility of the Student Accommodation Committee (USC/22). The Committee met annually and was discharged in 1996.
