Scope and Content

This committee was responsible for overseeing the work of the Research Consultancy Service, established by the University in 1972. The RCS was set up to improve the University's links with outside bodies, particularly businesses, in order to foster mutually beneficial projects. The RCS attempted to attract more funding to the University by identifying areas of expertise which might have potential commercial benefit, and help diversify the University's sources of funding. The Service also provided advice to University staff on undertaking consultancy work and patent arrangements. The Committee was replaced by the Research Exploitation Committee in 1986.
