The Press Committee had oversight of the Manchester University Press. Typically it adjudicated on submissions of works for publication, as well as supervising general administration and finances of the Press.
The Press was originally set up as the Publications Committee of the University in 1904 to encourage the publication of original research by University of Manchester staff. The Press developed into a major academic publisher in the twentieth century. In 1983 the Committee was renamed the Press Board following a reorganization.
