The Discipline Committee was a sub-committee of Senate, responsible for adjudicating on serious breaches of University regulations by students. It was originally established by the Owens College authorities, and is a rare example of a committee where there is direct continuity from Owens College to the University of Manchester. Many of the infringements it dealt with related to examination malpractices, but it also dealt with breaches of discipline in relation to Rag events and political demonstrations. The minutes include descriptions of cases, and in some cases include evidence used to corroborate a charge.
