Scope and Content

The Simon Fund for University Entertainment was established with money donated by Ernest Simon (Lord Simon of Wythenshawe), a former chairman of the University Council. Its purpose was to fund incidental expenditure on university social events. the money was allocated by the Committee each academic session to the Faculties, departments, halls of residence and other University bodies. Lord Simon also funded the Simon Research Fellowships, which were the responsibility of another committee. Pre-1966 minutes can be found in USC/2.
