Forty-eight letters, four postcards and a photograph sent by Richard Seddon to Paul and Margaret Nash.

The letters begin after Seddon was invalided from military service, and cover a broad range of subjects. Seddon relates his experiences of the war (TGA 7050/1185, 1187, 1191, 1192 and 1219); gives a brief breakdown of profits and expenses (TGA 7050/1208); and a resumé of his writing and painting activites between 1941-1944 (TGA 7050/1228). The bulk of Seddon's letters discuss his writings (often on Nash), as manuscripts and reproductions of artwork were exchanged between the two artists for approval. Also art theory, commissions and exhibitions. The health of Paul and Margaret Nash is frequently referred to, as are Seddon's feelings regarding working in Reading and Sheffield (Seddon taught at Reading University in 1944 and eventually became Director of Sheffield City Art Gallery). Also includes a memorandum in Paul Nash's hand of books, drawings, etc. sent to Richard Seddon (TGA 7050/1199). TGA 7050/1210 features a drawing on the reverse in Nash's hand 'My Calder', and TGA 7050/1217 has a map drawn on the reverse possibly in Nash's hand. The photograph is a reproduction of the Seddon painting 'Normandie Beach' (TGA 7050/1190).
