Concerns military developments: "The French destroy the country everywhere burn villages and corn on the ground, they are much frightened at Hanover"; there being nothing the Duke [of Cumberland] could have done against the French; not knowing the next moves of the French. Written from Lockum, between Minden and Nuiboar. Signed: "F Cavendish".
