Scope and Content

Volume compiled by Scott between 1868 and 1871. Material created by him dates from 1862 to 1871 but he has included publications and images by others dating back to at least the 1820s. Covers the history of the mission in North Ceylon [Sri Lanka] from its inception until 1871.

Volume includes: photographs of Scott and his family as well as images of his colleagues and their families; printed and hand drawn maps, particularly of mission areas; drawings and sketches of mission properties; list of missionaries appointed to the district between 1814 and 1871; notes on the work of his colleagues and his predecessors; copies of printed reports, etc, of missionary and other Christian organisations relating to Ceylon [Sri Lanka]; cuttings from newspapers, magazines and other periodicals relating to missionary work in North Ceylon [Sri Lanka].

Administrative / Biographical History

Rev Luke Scott (1837-1878) served the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society as a missionary in Ceylon [Sri Lanka] from 1862 to 1868.
