Edward Bickersteth (?1812-?1862), a liberated slave originally a member of the Egba people of Western Nigeria but raised in Sierra Leone. Served as a 'native agent' (indigenous teacher and lay pastor) for the WMMS in and around Abeokuta, Nigeria, from 1849 until 1862.
