This sub-fonds holds research material accumulated by Calvin Wells between 1944 and 1976. It includes 9 hardback notebooks with handwritten notes and hand drawn illustrations related primarily to the study of palaeopathology but with additional material on anthropology, medicine and its history, and the history of art. Included in the sub-fonds are 15 files with material (handwritten notes, typescripts and photocopies of secondary literature, correspondence) related to various pieces of research undertaken by Wells or his colleagues. The final series contains newspaper and magazine clippings collected by Wells which cover several subjects related to Wells professional and personal interests, such as palaeopathology, archaeology, medicine, literature, history, and politics.
