Scope and Content

Mail Art. The main image is a card of Musa's painting L'Art du deminage (2004) that references J-F's Millet's The Gleaners (1857); the card is grounded by flower pots of collaged stamps. In his practice, Musa makes repeated use of The Gleaners as a metaphor for the plight of society's poorest people.

Acquisition Information

The donation was made to SOAS Library in June 2018 by Elsbeth Court, an academic who teaches African Art on the IFCELS course at SOAS, with the support and agreement of the artist Hassan Musa.
