Letter from RD to his brother John, relating to: the huge box office success [of The Count of Monte Cristo] in America; film offers he has received from Irving Thalberg, Darryl Zanuck, Carl Laemmle, Korda and Gaumont British; Eddie Small [American film producer], who may offer RD a part in Beau Brummel; a recent private screening of The Count of Monte Cristo for RD, Ella and her father; the financial assistance RD provides for his family in America; his brother John's fur business, and a lease taken out by John, Emil and William Donat. In a postscript he reports that he is to star with Flora Robson in [James] Bridie's new play Mary Read.
