Letter from RD to his family, relating to: a present period of rest, before going to Liverpool in August [to join William Armstrong's company]; a [radio] broadcast he is to be in the following day which he describes as the most putrid punk ever devised, although the pay and publicity is good; a forthcoming operation; his love for Ella, and their decision to delay a formal engagement until their relationship has stood the test of time and separation; a jazz programme he recently took part in; and photographs he is sending his parents (not included).
