Scope and Content

Contains Roger Berthoud's notes and source material for his biography which Sutherlands' move to the South of France and Graham's portait commissions in the 1950s, notably of Somerset Maugham, Helena Rubinstein, Prince Max Fuerstenberg and Lord Beaverbrook. There are transcripts from interviews with Alan Searle and Eardley Knollys, and photocopies of Sutherland's correspondence with some of his sitters. There are also recollections of Kathleen Sutherland, press cuttings and an exhibition catalogue for 'From Sickert to Dali: International Portraits at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
