Scope and Content

Loose material from John Barron Mays, The gift of blood: a selection of poems (London: Enitharmon, 1981): a letter to Nicholson from Mays, sent to accompany a copy of his book which is intended as a gift to mark his appreciation of a Northern poet of integrity and individuality which I greatly admire at a time when coteries and groups flourish and dominate the poetic landscape with often disastrous results for would-be readers .
