W & M Duncan were confectioners based in Edinburgh. The company was formed in 1861. W & M Duncan Ltd was incorporated on 29 November 1912. Directors of Rowntree and Co. acquired shares in the company in 1927. Most shares transferred to Associated Chocolate Manufacturers in 1931. Shares transferred to Rowntree Mackintosh Ltd in 1980. The company's most popular and enduring product was the Walnut Whip, which is now manufactured by Nestlé Rowntree's.
