James Stedman (1840-1913) was a confectionery manufacturer. In 1875 Stedman bought a Sydney confectionery business and in March 1900 James Stedman Ltd was incorporated. James Stedman-Henderson's Sweets Ltd was registered as a public company in June 1920, with Stedman's eldest son James Noble (1860-1944) as chairman. The company moved from the city to Rosebery in 1918 and the premises were named ‘Sweetacres’. The company became celebrated as the manufacturer of 'Minties'. The firm became Sweetacres Ltd in 1971.
