At Christmas he met the Auchinlecks and Raymond Kittoe, and had a picnic lunch at the Viceroy's military secretary John Toogood's house. Later attended a party at the Cawthorns where thirty were in attendance, including General Molesworth and Colonel Thornhill, and played charades. On Boxing Day dined with Brigadier Bennett, a friend of Dr Rees (military psychiatrist), and on 27th December lunched with the Wavells.
