Scope and Content

To his mother and Harry, sends Xmas and New Year greetings, now living at 11 Willingdon crescent , New Delhi, which is next door to Wavell's residence "a small edition of Buckingham Palace". The Viceroy's house is about two-third of a mile away. 11 Willingdon Crescent is "crescent shaped and pleasantly cool". Likes the architecture of New Delhi.

Jessie Auchinleck now living at the Viceroy's house, and has shown his Auchinleck's letter from Cairo which he praises. She also showed him a letter from General O’Connor who is currently in an Italian prisoner of war camp. Mentions Freddie de Guingand's road accident. visited the Wavells, although general Wavell is currently in Burma; expecting to travel himself shortly [Middle East] and does not expect to be back until Xmas. Discusses incidence of cholera, but not a problem in India.
