Administrative / Biographical History

Pax Garments Limited was incorporated in 1921. It was registered as Company no. 176878 at Companies House. In 1944 it became a subsidiary of Pasolds Limited, with E.W. Pasold as one of the directors, and was renamed Ladybird Limited. The Ladybird clothing brand name had been bought by Pasolds in 1938.

A number of foreign subsidiary companies under the Ladybird name were established in the 1960s and 1970s. The Ladybird factory at Langley, near Slough, closed in 1982. In 1984 Woolworths signed a licensing agreement with Coats Viyella to stock the Ladybird band exclusively, and they purchased the brand outright in 2000. The dormant Ladybird Limited company was dissolved on 8 April 1997.
