Steve Morris had worked for Hotpoint for several years before applying for a supervisor's role at the Hotpoint factory in Llandudno Junction in the 1970s, in order to start a family. He recalls varying types of internal 'cultures' on the site, and how strong its community was. Following the announcement of plans to shut down production on site, Steve and colleagues arranged a press and public awareness campaign to save the site, part of it renamed 'Parc Ysygyryn' as, in his own words, to tie it within the community. The campaign failed, with the factory having closed in 1992 - the site presently covered by an administrative building by the Welsh Assembly Government.
