Scope and Content

Copy will of William Thomas late landwaiter of the Custom House, London, and now living in Catherine Court, Great Tower Hill, gent. Devises his copyhold lands (3 a.) near Bridgend, co. Glam., which he purchased from Joshua Watkin in 1735, to Rev. John Jones his kinsman. Bequeathes all his books to the said John Jones, all his plate, including a silver hilted sword, to Thomas Bennet of Laleston, esq., £600 between p's Newton [Nottage], Laleston and Pyle, co. Glam., to be spent on repairs or ornaments for the churches of the said p's and to such objects of charity as his executors shall think deserving, and to the Commissioners of the Customs or to the Collector there for the time being £100 in trust 'to be applyed to the Old Subsidy', and the warren now let to Mrs Harries of Llanfihangel to the Margam estate. Endorsed: note of enrolment in the manorial court of Coety Anglia, co. Glam., 27 April 1769.
