Abstracts of wills proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, mainly relating to co. Glam., and particularly to the Matthews family of Cardiff, 1470-1735, and Transcripts of inventories, dated 7-14 July 1553, of the goods of the churches of Barry, Caerau, Cardiff St John the Baptist, Cardiff St Mary, LecwITH, Llancarfan, Llanedern, Llanisien, Llys-faen, Michaelston-super-Ely (incomplete), Penarth, PorthKeRrY and Roath, co. Glam., taken by William Herbert, William Bassett and Myles Mathewe, esq's., by force of a commission to sell the same. [The commission is probably that in Calendar of Patent Rolls, Edward VI, vol. V, 1547-1553, pp. 417-19. The originals of the inventories are probably in E117 at the Public Record Office].
