Papers, dated Edinburgh, 21 October 1871, from J.F. Campbell of Islay to Alexander Carmichael with a rough list of the order of the Lays in Gillies' 'Collection' for 'LNF' (p.vi sub 'M'.). This is enclosed in two ff. Numbered '17' containing fragmentary notes on (a) Manners and Customs of the Fenians (b) Natural History of the Fenian Tales and ( c ) Disposition of the Fenians. These are all written by Alexander Carmichael who adds, 'This result of a wet morning will do as the foundation on which to work when I get amongst (sic) M.S.S (sic) and books in Edinburgh. 1 p.m. Oct.2, 1871'.
