Scope and Content

Letter, dated 'Duirness 21 June 1826', from the Reverend William Findlater to the Reverend Dr Mackintosh Mackay of Laggan (later of Dunoon), at 7 East Register Street, Edinburgh.
The Reverend William Findlater was minister at Duirness from 1812--1865, first as a Church of Scotland minister and later, as a Free Church minister.
The letter, written in English, gives an account of the 'prac' and 'pracadair' and quotes (in Gaelic) a verse from Donald Mackay, 'Ma ruar bean no nan cuig caorach (sic) ...'. There is also another verse in Gaelic, 'Suil is buisean is eanachain ...'.
