Bound in brown paper-covered boards, leather spine and corners, on the front, on a pasted-on white label, ‘FACSIMILES / OF / SWAN-ROLLS.’
Large bound volume of Ticehurst’s original pen and ink and watercolour drawings (page size 30.5 x 24 cm) that are reproduced as illustrations (which he calls ‘sketch-facsimile’ illustrations) to Ticehurst TIC/001 to TIC/013, and some in N.F. Ticehurst, The Mute Swan in England, London 1957. Each is a single page, apparently actual size, or a section from a roll.
The drawings are on heavy cartridge paper, in pen and ink, some with additional coloured washes (these probably watercolour rather than ink). There are feint pencil guide lines and some erasures and corrections on some sheets and foxing throughout. The fols are numbered top right in pencil, from 1 to 58 (with one, between 54 and 55, accidentally unnumbered). Each fol is preceded by a tipped-in small sheet of MS notes (most around 10 x 19.5 cm) in ink on a light weight paper giving a brief description of the roll and a note of associated publications. If the handwriting has not been reproduced this is indicated.
