Scope and Content

Letters from members of the Fitzmaurice and De Blaquiere families. These families were connected to HLP via Lleweni, the ancient seat of the Salusbury family, which had been sold by Robert Salusbury Cotton to Thomas Fitzmaurice. The volume contains:

  • numbers 1-3, 5-9 from Mary O'Bryen, Countess of Orkney [wife of Thomas Fitzmaurice, MP];
  • numbers 10-14 from John [Hamilton Fitzmaurice], Viscount Kirkwall [son of Mary and Thomas Fitzmaurice];
  • numbers 20-30, 32-41 from Anna Maria [Fitzmaurice], Viscountess Kirkwall [wife of John Hamilton Fitzmaurice, daughter of Sir John de Blaquiere];
  • numbers 15-19, 31 from Sir John de Blaquiere (1776-1844);
  • numbers 42-46 from Elinor [sic], Lady de Blaquiere [wife of Sir John de Blaquiere];
  • numbers 47-51 from Elizabeth Blaquiere [daughter of Sir John de Blaquiere];
  • numbers 52-54 from Elinor [sic] Blaquiere [daughter of Sir John de Blaquiere];
  • number 4 from W.M. Bradford.
