Scope and Content

Handwritten and typed letters, copy letters, and notes between M. Philips Price and A.P. Wadsworth (dictating to his secretary), as well as between Philips Price and Wadsworth's successor as editor of the Guardian from October 1956, Alastair Hetherington. This item begins with two pieces dated 3 July 1956 and 4 July 1956 (GDN/338/2/376-377), though subsequent pieces are dated from 11 April 1956 onward.

Also included is the title page from Philips Price's A History of Turkey: from Empire to Republic (GDN/338/2/379).

Philips Price and Wadsworth discuss current Anglo-Turkish relations and Philips Price's recently published book on Turkish history. Hetherington and Philips Price exchange letters regarding the latter's autumn journey to Turkey, Iraq, and Cyprus, in addition to articles for the Guardian written by Philips Price about his experiences and observations.
