Scope and Content

Handwritten letters, notes, and typed copy letters between M. Philips Price, A.P. Wadsworth, and in one exchange, J.M.D. Pringle, discussing reception of Philip Price's published book on Russia, the death of Russian philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev, a memoir edited by Michael Pedev, and Philips Price's autumn journey to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Kashmir region as a Guardian special correspondent. Philips Price describes witnessing censorship and abuses of police power during a brief trip to Cairo en route to Pakistan.

Also included are detailed memos on Philips Price's previous trips to Turkey, Iran, and Iraq, and a letter from Wadsworth to Terence Prittie, long-time Germany correspondent for the Guardian.
