Scope and Content

Handwritten letters and copy letters between A.P. Wadsworth and M. Philips Price regarding an article Philips Price wrote about agriculture in Palestine, based on his travels. A fascimile of the article is included in this item, as is an edited draft.

There are also exchanges between Wadsworth and Philips Price about growing tensions between the USSR and its former American and British allies.

Pieces GDN/338/2/78-110 relate to Philips Price's extended trip to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey as a special correspondent for the Guardian, including both his travel preparations and the resulting articles. Letters, notes, and telegraphs are exchanged between M. Philips Price; A.P. Wadsworth; J[ohn] M[artin] D[ouglas] P[ringle], Wadsworth's assistant editor; and the Foreign Office, London. This item includes a telegraphed interview with Marshal [Josip Broz] Tito, conducted by Philips Price.
