Scope and Content

Typed and handwritten letters and copy letters between M. Philips Price and A.P. Wadsworth, regarding current events - particularly the Iranian coup d'ètat in August, and tensions between Britain and Egypt over the Suez Canal - as well as book reviews by Philips Price.

Additionally, there is an incomplete, unsigned memorandum (GDN/338/2/316A), apparently authored by Philips Price, on Persian domestic political reform and foreign affairs, in particular its relationship with Russia.

This item also includes correspondence related to Philips Price's autumn sojourn to Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey as a special correspondent for the Guardian. There is one exchange between Philips Price's son, Peter, and Wadsworth about Philips Price reviewing a book on the Caucasus.

Dated from the House of Commons, London; Taynton, Gloucester; the Guardianoffices in Manchester; Baghdad.
