A collection of miscellaneous papers from and about Stevie Smith, including original poems and art-work, some unpublished.

Stevie Smith was born in Hull, on 20 September 1902, the youngest daughter of Charles Ward Smith and Ethel Rachel Spear, and was christened Florence Margaret. She was educated at Palmers Green High School and the North London Collegiate School.

Along with her novels and poems, she was a regular contributer to the Observer, The TLS, Spectator, Time and Tide, The Listener and Aeronautics Magazine. Most of her working life was spent as a secretary in the London offices of a magazine publisher.

Stevie Smith died on 7 March 1971.
