Collection of documents including correspondence with Madeau Stewart from Stella Margetson and her sister Colleen Margetson - 'Coggie' in the letters.

Also, articles from Country Life Magazine written by Stella Margetson on various aspects of Social History, and a copy of one of her books. Stella Margetson was born on 6 March 1912 in Hampstead, London. She was the daughter of a hosier. At 17 she founded the Georgian Group to campaign for the preservation of Georgian Architecture.

She was a freelance journalist for Country Life Magazine for many years. She was mainly known as a Social Historian, her books including Journey by Stages (1967) and Leisure and Pleasure in the 19th Century (1969), and was also a novelist.

Stella Margetson died on 13 April 1992.
