Scope and Content

Elizabeth Goudge was a Novellist, born in Somerset, 24 April 1900. Her first novel was written in 1932. In 1947 she wrote her most well-known novel 'Green Dolphin Country' which was later made into a film.

Her companion of over thirty years, Miss Jessie Monroe, is referred to in her correspondence, and also is a correspondent to Miss Stewart after Miss Goudge's death. Elizabeth Goudge died on 1 April 1984 in Henley, where she had lived for over thirty years.
