The Wesleyan Methodists in Thame (who had met from 1778 in the former Presbyterian meeting-house in Sun Yard) bought two cottages in Upper High Street, and after obtaining approval from the Chapel Building Committee, these cottages were demolished and a church built in 1853. This chapel was destroyed by fire and replaced in 1876. Title deeds for this site (1742-1876) are catalogued below. In 1972 the Methodist Church merged with the United Reformed Church at Thame. The Methodist church building was converted to secular use in 1977.
