Scope and Content

A Methodist Society may have been in existence before 1744 in Chinnor. A chapel was erected in the village in 1847 and was the head of the Chinnor Primitive Methodist Circuit. Rebuilding took place in 1872/3, and the new church was named Bourne Memorial Church (after Hugh Bourne, one of the founders of Primitive Methodism). In 1982 the church underwent extensive renovation and updating, including new halls and vestry.
