Thomas Bevan, clerk, vicar of St Peter's Carmarthen, and archdeacon of St Davids, and James Rowlands of Carmarthen, esq. Pre-nuptial Settlement of 1 and 2, whereby 1, with consent of 2, assigns to 3, her half share in a £2,000 mortgage (dated 23 April 1845) of m's called Henfryn or Tyrhenfryn and Plaesypark, [p. Merthyr co. Carm.? - the location is not given] and certain securities (further recited) together with a sum of £1,792.10.5 £3 per cent consolidated bank annuities, to which 1 is entitled, in trust for the use of 1 and any children of the marriage. Attached: Memorandum, dated 1 June 1892, by James Rowlands, stating that Maria Brown's (later Edwards) moiety of the £2,000 mortgage had been assured to him by her settlement [i.e. the present deed] and after her death, he, as trustee, paid the persons entitled to her £1,000 half share, of which £600 was his own money and £400 was Elizabeth Brown's money. Endorsed: Release, dated 28 May 1892, whereby the two daughters of Maria Edwards viz. Elizabeth Emma Bandfield of 6 Vernon Terrace, New Southgate, Middlesex, widow, and Lucy Sarah Williams, wife of William Williams of 403 Park Lane, Macclesfield, Cheshire, surveyor of taxes (who is himself a party) release James Rowlands from the trusts of the settlement. The Release recites the deaths of Edward Edwards, 1 March 1865, Thomas Bevan (no date given), and Maria Edwards née Brown, 15 March 1892, who by will, dated 10 Sept. 1890, bequeathed her money, i.e. the £1,792.10.5 bank annuities, and the sum of £1,000 secured by the mortgage within mentioned, to her two aforementioned daughters equally. James Rowlands, as surviving trustee, has transferred the consolidated bank annuities and has paid the £1,000, so is now being released from the trusts of the settlement.
