Scope and Content

From Paul Richards, asks for reprints of two articles, and sends a copy of his article on game-playing machines. Says he is interested in Turing's views on random processes in searching-problems for computers. Turing replies, "the most convenient method for choosing between otherwise equally good alternatives on a random basis is to add a small random number to any measure, which is used to order the alternatives."
