General description of an average day and the area from which the miners would come from to work in the pit. [00:06:35] Industry: Description of first day working in the mine, including a fatal accident that happened there that day. [00:06:54] Medicine: Describing dental treatment at the time. [00:07:41] Childhood: Recalling childhood games such as 'Tallyho', and spending days at Sketty beach in the Summer and skating on frozen ponds in the Winter. [00:11:08] Industry: Memory of Clyne Valley Colliery closing in 1914 and then working in Graig Orler(?) fuelworks and having an industrial accident at age 16. [00:11:53] First World War: Trying to enlist in the Army as a 16 year old in 1915, eventually entering the Royal Naval Division. [00:12:40] First World War: Disobedience during military training, and a final family reunion for a photograph with Vanstones photographers. [00:14:27] First World War: Facing military justice for overstaying leave and spending 42 days in Dorchester Gaol, a civilian prison. [00:17:21] First World War: Finishing sentence and being transported back from the prison to an army barracks via Red Cross ambulances. [00:17:54] First World War: Getting kitted out again following prison and being assigned to a ship, HMS Pincher out of Pembroke. [00:19:00] First World War: Setting sail straight into a storm and hitting the Seven Stones reef which sinks the ship (24/07/1918), the men were rescued by HMS Scorpion. [00:19:55] First World War: HMS Scorpion drops the survivors at Devonport barracks where a reunion with a childhood friend happens and an act of Christian charity. [00:22:15] Community: Visiting his Aunt in Beckenham and meeting the girl who was to become his wife. [00:23:16] Community: Being a newly wed and starting a family during the Great Depression. [00:23:43] Industry: Joining the Merchant Navy on the SS Yukon and the hard nature of both the work and the life on the ship. [00:27:34] Industry: Leaving the SS Yukon and getting employment in South Wales Transport, descibing jobs done in South Wales Transport but recording ends suddenly.
