Nina writes to Anna in German but if that is painful for Anna, Nina will do her best in English. Nina is glad to hear that Brodsky's playing is appreciated in Manchester. She recalls returning to the Brodskys' home, seeing the light in the music room and hearing Brodsky play. Nina heard Frank's Quintet the previous day. Nina recalls the Behrens, who were so friendly and good to them, and their lovely, homely house. The weather is grey, misty and wet; she longs for the south "wo die Zitronen bluhn".
