Meeting papers of the Joint Standing Committee, including agenda, minutes and circulated papers.

Administrative / Biographical History

A tripartite meeting was held in June 2003 of representatives from the Royal Medical Colleges representing Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Midwives, and Paediatrics and Child Health. It was decided that a joint standing committee should be created between the three Colleges, with terms of reference produced based on previous meetings between the Colleges. A draft 'concordat' was drawn up in August 2004 which set out the principles of clarifying the roles and responsibilities of midwives, obstetricians and paediatricians, with the hope of promoting multidisciplinary working and achieving effective collaboration within local communities.
